Days +119-120: slow improvement
Mina Brigitta has had a couple of very nice days. Her energy level continues to improve. They went to the lighthouse at Point Bonita (http://www.cyberlights.com/lh/calif/bonita.htm#) today, and she walked half a mile down the paved trail and a quarter mile back. She loved the little teeny lighthouse and didn't want to leave. They actually had some nice weather today, which is unusual for this time of year.
She's slowly looking better too. Her face has lost most of the steroid-induced puffiness, and her color is slowly improving. Her skin has had an unhealthy-looking grayish tint to it because of the hyperpigmentation caused by the rash back in May & June. That seems to be slowly fading, and she's getting some pink coloring back in her cheeks. It's still very apparent on her arms, trunk and upper legs. Her hair is growing in nice and thick, which is good to see because permanent hair loss can be a side effect of both the radiation and GVHD. It's to the point now where you can begin to see some waves in it, but Isaac will have his first haircut long before she does.
Grandma flies out tomorrow. The kids will miss her a lot, as will Keri and I. It's so nice that she could come and help out while I was gone. Thankfully, I don't have any more trips planned for a while.

It is so good to read about Mina Brigitta's progress, and the experiences you are having as a family. I smile and cry at the same time - and thank the Lord for miracles. Hugs to all of you, and Gramma too, and I hope today is special.
I love you, Aunt Joan

Mina herself is a lighthouse, and this saga of hers, simply and beautifully recorded for posterity by this blog, will dispel darkness for many souls who dread being dashed on the rocks of hard experience that loom large on the horizon.
To extend the metaphor a bit, what is really illuminating is not so much the casting of light as the nature of light that is cast - courage, unconditional love, humility and gratitude.
Prayers and love,
Hari

Mina: I agree with your Anta Teri. It is very hard to say anything after reading the beautiful words from your friend, Hari!! But I must say that I am so happy to hear that you are doing better, even slowly improved is sooo much better than the opposite. Richard and I get to go up to Everett this weekend. Your Anta is having a wedding shower for you cousin Karissa, and my mom turns 80 too. So we are really excited to get out of the heat. It has been in the triple digits here!!! It is so good to hear about your growth. Even mudane stuff is exciting to read about. Thanks so much Arne for keeping us up to date. We love your family!!! and are waiting for the day you can all come down and stay and go to Disneyland. May God continue to bless, heal and strengthen you. I know you are so special to HIM!!!! love Tutu and Richard.
